The History of The Folder Factory

In 1987, Peter Carpenter launched a venture that is still running strong today. His father, Glenn Carpenter, sold the first photocopiers in the late sixties and early 70’s. He wanted his own business so decided to set up his own company selling office supplies. That turned into Tabufile. Tabufile sells filing systems and custom folders. When Peter graduated from university there were no jobs to apply for so his father hired him on as a salesman. 

It was 1987 and Glenn was only 48 so Peter knew that it would be a long time before he could become a boss, and he really wanted to be the boss. He came up with the idea of manufacturing folders.

Peter rounded up some investors who believed in Peter’s plan to manufacture end tab file folders. The investors included his father, his father in law, and his mother in law. With their backing and a little help from 3 other angel investors, Peter had the money to buy the equipment and inventory to get up and running with his new company, The Folder Factory in Moncton. It has been 36 years and the business has adapted to changing environments and has always catered to the needs of its customers.

In 2009, Peter was presented the opportunity to purchase Brunswick Labels systems in Winnipeg. He decided that it was a good fit with the folder business and worked to combine the two businesses into one. The result is 2 centers of excellence in manufacturing and customer service, run as one company. In Moncton, they still produce quality private label folders, and in Winnipeg they produce great stock and custom labels. 

In 2016 Xertrex Canada merged with The Folder Factory and TFF got a new sales office in Toronto, ON. 2016 also saw the addition of a Colordyne digital printing press for the Winnipeg location. This high speed press produces fantastic 4 color labels for the packaging industry. This diversification gives a complete new product line.
